5--At your institution does the basic writing course(s) require extra fees in addition to general tuition?

  • Yes = 3.8%
  • No = 96.2%

6--If yes, what is the extra charge?

  • There aren’t extra fees, but the cost of the course is not covered by the statewide merit-based scholarship program (Any student who meets minimum GPA requirements gets $10,000 to cover tuition, which in-state is darn close to the whole four years). Many students depend on this scholarship program, so the fact that developmental comp is not covered is a hardship and a sore spot for students.
  • N.A. In fact, two of the Developmental English Courses give students an 8 hour instruction period for the cost of 5 credits, so in a sense, we give them a discount.
  • $30.00

7--If yes, what is the purpose and use of the extra fee?

  • Originally to support teaching of ENGL 90 like equipment and videos, also faculty development. Now to support part of the Writing Program as a whole.
