Today I want to explore how CompPile and CompFAQs—two relatively new online open-access resources—can provide / are providing / will continue to provide rhetorical spaces different from those we’ve had in the past or that we have now, virtual and open spaces within which we can contribute to the ongoing challenge of defining composition as a discipline.
For today’s talk, as a way to use my time wisely and as a way to focus, I’m working from the premise that no matter how we might struggle over the “identity of the identity” we are developing as a discipline, we can not craft an “identity with integrity,” we can not be considered a discipline (by those whose opinions matter in material ways) without a stable, authoritative, comprehensive bibliographical record that we use to continue to build our scholarly knowledge base.
