Organizations Associations‹ Research Centers, Institutes, Laboratories | Main Resource List | Edited Series › Professional organizations/associations A broad interdisciplinary research area which examines the writing and composition of texts from various perspectives has developed over the last 30 years. Accordingly, the literature available on this subject is heterogeneous and spread across diverse subject areas and various types of publications. Accessing expert knowledge is thus difficult, and the researchers involved tend to only be aware of colleagues within their own field of specialty. What is missing is an innovative instrument which consolidates the literature, offers overviews and brings researchers together. ipTS is closing this gap through the implementation of an interdisciplinary web research portal for text production and research on writing. In the future, users will be able to get information about models, methods and research results, all in a single central location. They will be supported by novel modes of access (interactive topic maps, the construction of semantic networks). Whoever is interested in research locations will be able to find out about researchers and projects by using a geographical research map. The portal is being created in close cooperation with the scientific community (experts and national and international professional associations). An editorial board, an advisory board and user feedback all contribute to maintain a high standard of quality. The portal subscribes to the open-access principle and is guided by current standards of electronic publishing (DINI certification, DublinCore metadata concept, etc.).
