July: Knowledge Transfer, a beginning: In the first of what will be several additions to CompFAQs, I’ve compiled discussions from WPA-L about knowledge transfer and FY Composition. These first compilations include two contributions from Jerry Nelms (September 2003 and March 2005) and an extended conversation among several colleagues in November 2005. June: Teaching Basic Writing: In April 2006, Lori Rios sent a query to CBW-L and to WPA-L asking colleagues to suggest a text (or texts) that they use or would use for a graduate course on Teaching Basic Writing. Lori agreed to share her compiled list via CompFAQs. In addition to the list Lori assembled, you can add to the list and add comments about texts already on the list. June: Basic Writing Syllabi: In April 2006, Shannon Carter sent a query to CBW-L and to WPA-L asking colleagues to share syllabi they use for their basic writing courses. Shannon agreed to share those materials via CompFAQs. In addition to seeing the materials Shannon collected, CompFAQs invites teachers to continue to submit syllabi for Basic Writing Courses, and to provide context / explanation for the syllabus. May: After Plagiarism: On May 26, Jerry Nelms sent the following as a response to a question posted on WPA-L about “After Plagiarsim”: What do schools do with / for students who (may) have plagiarized. April: Linda Adler-Kassner and students in her graduate course called “Teaching Basic Writing at the College Level” have produced an extensive FAQ module focusing on “Best Practices.” With this impressive work, they provide professionals with important resources, and their work serves as an invitation for others to contribute to this ongoing process. See the current (prototype) archive and consider contributing documents. April: Laurie McMillan shares her compilation of suggested readings for a course she’ll teach called “Feminist Writing & Rhetoric.” The suggestions come from WPA-L subscribers. You can see the list of readings, and you can add new entries to the list. As you review the list of readings you’ll also see instructions for adding to or revising existing entries. (Linked also through “Reading Lists.) April: Darsie Bowden’s compilation of schools that offer renewable contracts has been converted into a pages that allow institutions to submit and/or revise information.
